hold the fort

Fort Detroit, Detroit, Michigan // August 2013

A handfull of artists were invited to build site specific installations within the historic Fort Detroit. Monica Canilao Built her installation out of reclaimed wood, metal and debris which had previously been created for a large scale installation in Anacostia DC. The Large welded lady legs where made from steel rebar reclaimed from the rubble and remains of the old defunct Ford Factory. With the help of may friends she constructed a woman wearing a house surrounded by a litter of arrows centering around an old brick tunnel system.

Ryan Doyle brought his Dragon.

After the project the parts were disassembled and permanently installed at her Art house The Treasure Nest In Hamtramck.
