In 2015 Monica Canilao was invited to paint in Boston by CONVERSE + Blank Canvas to paint the outside of POP Allston, a new community space.
The multi-functional space boasts “a nearly 10,000 square foot free indoor skatepark, weekly multi-vendor vintage market, and a pop up DIY bicycle repair workshop” along with additional room for further use. Located on 89 Brighton Avenue, POP Allston is a collaborative space between established locals Commonwheels Bicycle Co-Op, Converse, Orchard Skate Shop, and Vivant Vintage with the City of Boston’s guidance.
