Statement

Oakland artist Monica Canilao relies heavily on reuse, creating her collages and sculptures from found paper, fabric and other materials. In her solo show, “The Dispossessed,” on display at Needles and Pens from December 2006 through January 2007, she speaks to the human capacity to adapt and grow through good, bad, and worse.
